This is with reference to some media reports regarding protest of some former temporarily/daily wages staff in front of Sui Gas Head Office building.
It is being clarified that the company engages services of individuals on temporary/daily wages basis on operational requirement only. On expiry of pre-determined time period or completion of the assignment, this temporary engagement automatically lapses or is terminated. Such temporary engagement cannot be converted into permanent/career term employment.
The sub-engineers staging a demonstration outside SNGPL Head Office, as reported in different newspapers on Tuesday regarding dismissal, were engaged for different intervals and are now no longer associated with the company. The SNGPL does not owe any contractual obligations towards them either.
It is further informed that the company’s staffing requirement on career terms is made on merit by advertising the positions in the national press. Therefore, in order to be considered for a career term position, they may apply afresh as and when the company advertises its staffing requirements in the press in the future commensurate to their qualification, experience, age and skill level.
