Two soldiers of Pakistan Army were martyred and one wounded as Indian forces resorted to unprovoked firing Thursday morning in Dewa Sector, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement.
According to the military’s media wing, Pakistan Army soldiers, while responding to cross-border fire from the enemy in Haji Pir Sector, damaged Indian post and killed three Indian soldiers, including a subedar. “Indian ceasefire violations (CFVs) along the Line of Control (LoC) during the last 36 hours. Responding to CFVs, in Haji Pir Sector Pakistan Army troops damaged Indian post killing three Indian soldiers including a Subedar, few injured too,” the ISPR tweeted.
The military’s media wing said Naib Subedar Kandero and Sepoy Ehsan of Pakistan Army embraced martyrdom.
Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi has strongly condemned the unprovoked firing along the Line of Control by Indian troops, saying that Modi-led government is risking regional peace by increasing LoC violations.
Qureshi said India is committing violations in order to divert world’s attention from strong reaction across the globe against the controversial citizenship bill. He added that the Indian nation has completely rejected radical thoughts of the Modi government. He urged the international community to take notice of India’s warmongering agenda.
The foreign minister paid rich tribute to the martyred soldiers of Pakistan Army. He said the whole nation is proud of the sacrifices rendered by personnel of the armed forces and is paying salute to their bravery and courage. The nation stands firm side-by-side with its armed forces, he added.
Meanwhile, Special Assistant to Prime Minister (SAPM) on Information and Broadcasting Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan said that the special package announced by the cabinet for the families residing along the Line of Control will contribute to their welfare. In a series of tweets, she said besides assistance through ration scheme under Ehsaas Programme, every married woman of 33,498 families will be given Rs 5000 every three months and payment of this amount will continue for four quarters.
Qureshi says Modi-led government risking regional peace by LoC violations
Paying tribute to the valiant people living along the Line of Control, she said they are facing the enemy shoulder to shoulder with the armed forces for defence of the motherland. “We salute their sacrifices”, she said.
Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari also condemned unprovoked firing at the Line of Control (LoC) by Indian armed forces.
In a statement, the PPP chairman expressed his grief over the martyrdom of two soldiers of Pakistan Army. Terming the Indian aggression, a threat to the peace of the region, Bilawal called on the international community to take immediate notice of the aggressive policies of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President and Opposition Leader in National Assembly (NA) Shehbaz Sharif also condemned Indian firing along the Line of Control (LoC) and urged that international community should take notice of Indian violation of ceasefire and unprovoked firing at the LOC. In a statement, the PML-N president said the Indian forces are violating ceasefire agreement to divert the attention of the international community from the protests against recently introduced controversial citizenship law.
