LAHORE: The Hounourable bench of Supreme Court showed its satisfaction over the recommendations of Implementation Committee for Diamer Bhasha and Mohmand Dam (ICDBMD).
According to the report, the Implementation Committee for Diamer Bhasha and Mohmand Dam (ICDBMD) placed a comprehensive set of recommendations before the Honourable Supreme Court for early commencement and timely completion of Diamer Basha and Mohmand Dams.
According to a press release by Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA), the Honourable bench endorsed the recommendations of the Committee and provided the much needed impetus to the long awaited commencement and completion of both Diamer Basha and Mohmand Dams. The press release also states that an historic breakthrough was achieved by the Committee in finding a solution to a decade old resettlement issue of Diamer Basha. The new compensation formula for resettlement was endorsed by the Honourable Court which will greatly help to address the needs and wishes of the local population and would assist in early commencement of work. The Honourable Supreme Court also praised the recommendation of the Committee to acquire the land at fast pace in former Mohmand Agency. It was also highlighted that comprehensive CBMs in the area will greatly benefit the local populace and assist them in medical, education and communication facilities. It would also provide huge employment opportunities for them. The Honourable bench further directed that all Ministries / Departments must undertake measures to ensure early commencement of the projects.
