Pakistan High Commissioner to Delhi Sohail Mehmood Friday said that reviving dialogue between Pakistan Maritime Security Agency (PMSA) and Indian Coast Guard (ICG) would contribute to efforts underway for bilateral corporation.
A PMSA delegation led by Director General (DG) Rear Admiral Zakaur Rehman has recently concluded a successful visit to India. The delegation held talks with the ICG where both sides emphasised over continuous and optimal utilisation of the existing tracks of bilateral cooperation, a Foreign Office (FO) statement said.
PMSA DG Rear Admiral Rehman also visited the Pakistan High Commission during his visit to Delhi.
“High Commissioner Sohail Mahmood expressed hope that the fruitful interaction between the two institutions would help alleviate sufferings of the fishermen, particularly those who cross inadvertently, apart from strengthening mutual collaboration in search-and-rescue and foster enhanced cooperation between the two sides with regard to response to pollution and natural calamities,” concludes the statement. The last meeting between the PMSA and ICG was held in Islamabad in July 2016.
