Pakistan has lodged protest with India over unprovoked firing at Khanjar Sector, along the Line of Control (LoC) by Indian Army on 10 September 2018, which resulted in the martyrdom of one innocent civilian Guftar Hussain.
The protest was registered by summoning the Acting Indian Deputy High Commissioner.
“The Director General south Asia and SAARC Dr. Mohammad Faisal summoned the Acting Indian Deputy High Commissioner and condemned the unprovoked ceasefire violations by the Indian occupation forces”, Foreign office statement said.
Indian diplomat was urged to respect the 2003 ceasefire arrangement, investigate this and other incidents of ceasefire violations and to instruct the Indian forces to respect the ceasefire in the spirit to maintain peace along the LoC.
He was also urged that the India should permit UNMOGIP to play its mandated role as per the UN Security Council resolutions.
Talking to Daily Times, Dr. Faisal said that the Indian Forces have carried out more than 2050 ceasefire violations along the LoC and the working boundary, resulting in the shahadats of 33 innocent civilians, while injuring 122 others.
‘’This condemnable escalation in ceasefire violations by India started from year 2017, when Indian forces committed 1970 ceasefire violations,’’ added Faisal.
The spokesman deplored the deliberate targeting of civilian population, and termed it contrary to human dignity and international human rights law.
The spokesman further said that these ceasefire violations by India are a threat to regional peace and security, and it may lead to a strategic miscalculation.
