GUJRAT: Italian-Pakistani women Sana Cheema, who was reportedly killed by her brother, father and uncle on 24th April, was strangled to death, a forensic report revealed on Wednesday.
The Punjab Forensic Laboratory reported that Sana’s neck was broken.
26 year old Sana was reportedly killed on 24th April by her brother, father and uncle in an ‘honour killing’.
Police said that Cheema’s family termed her death an accident and buried her in the West Mangowal area of District Gujrat on April 18.
According to reports, Sana’s father wanted her to marry his relative but Sana refused because she wanted to marry of her own choice in Italy.
On April 25, police excavated the body and sent the samples for a post-mortem.
Sana had visited a hospital for minor treatment on 11th April and the documents were recovered by the police.
The Italian foreign minister also remarked on the issue and said that it is important to reach the conclusion of the case.
The ministry also ensured that they were willing to help Pakistan in providing any kind of information.
Moreover, the issue gained importance on social media and many Italians posted Sana’s pictures with the hashtags #JusticeforSana and #TruthforSana.
