KARACHI: MQM-P Convener Farooq Sattar on Sunday said that he accepts Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP)’s challenge, but PPP is mistaken if the party believes it can weaken MQM’s vote bank.
While addressing a rally at Tunky Ground in Karachi, Farooq Sattar termed PPP as “Papu, Papa and Phoopho” party, while he also slammed the PPP leaders over anti-MQM remarks during the rally in Liaquatabad earlier this week.
“Those who say that we are divided into groups must know that our differences over a few issues are temporary, and it would not weaken our vote bank in any way,” Farooq stated.
The MQM-P leader continued that he accepts PPP’s challenge of a political battle in Liaquatabad. “This rally is just a trailer, and the movie will soon be released. We have been bowling for 10 years, but now it is our turn to bat.”
Farooq said that it is because of the MQM-P that the Muhajirs have refrained from demanding a separate province.
Earlier this week, PPP Co-Chief Bilawal Bhutto Zardari slammed MQM founder Altaf Hussain saying that the PPP has “rescued Karachi from the London one” and that the party aims to build upon the existing environment of peace and stability in the city.
The PPP co-chief continued that during former president Pervaiz Musharraf’s era, the MQM governed as “a mafia” and did not take necessary steps for the development of the city. “We are against the politics of Atlaf Hussain from day one, and we will not let any of his ‘men’ to replicate him,” he added.
Bilawal said that MQM does not want to remove heaps of garbage from the city since “their politics relies on it.” He questioned that “how can you expect MQM to solve major problems when they can not even solve minor issues such as elimination of garbage?”
